There is currently no set release date for The Witcher 4, but to put some context to do this The Witcher 3 took about 3 and a half years to develop with The Witcher 3 game being released on May 19th, 2015 which is nearing the 3 years mark as of writing this. However, the co-founder of CD Projekt the studio behind The Witcher 3 said speaking to Eurogamer  said This is the end […] there won’t be any Witcher anytime soon – if there ever will be one.” However, The Witcher series is the most successful of the company so it is most likely there will be a fourth instalment in the series.

However, the CEO of CD Projekt RED the studio in charge of development of the game said on Polish TV station TVN24 BiS“It’s too early to talk about it, but it’s not like we’re forgetting about this brand….It wouldn’t be fair towards the fans. We work within this universe for over a dozen years now and I don’t think it’s going to be the end of it.” But one thing is for certain there will be no Gerald as unfortunately, his story ended during The Witcher 3 game.

The Witcher 4 News

There has currently been no solid news about The Witcher 4, however, a lot of people connected with the game have spoken about it in Interviews.  CD Projekt co-founder Iwinski said in an interview with Polygon “We are not killing the world and walking away from it,” which pretty much confirms that The Witcher 4 is coming one day, however, Iwinski was reported to have said in an investor call “that the series needs a bit of a rest.”

Also while speaking to Polish news site called Strefainwestorow that The Witcher games are released in trilogies meaning that there could be a Witcher 4, Witcher 5 and Witcher 6 but in the very long run.

Marcin Iwinski was noted saying. “The Witcher was designed as a trilogy and a trilogy cannot have a fourth part, can it?”

“We like this world a lot. We invested 15 years of our lives in it and a lot of money. So, we’ll think about [making a new Witcher game] at some point. But please consider us as rational people, we sometimes have weird ideas but overall our thinking is very rational. We have full rights to The Witcher games. They are ours. We have invested enormous funds into promoting it, and it’s a very strong brand.”

  • Also, many people are speculating is that the story will change and become more parallel with the story of The Witcher writer Andrzy Sapkowski.

It has been confirmed that The Witcher 4 video game will feature a whole new story about a whole new protagonist. There will be many options for protagonists from existing such as Ciri or we can have a whole new Witcher altogether and it will be interesting to play as a female protagonist as it will add a new side to the game and even an anti-hero.

The Witcher 4 Price

The price is likely to be the usual $49.99 which is what The Witcher 3 game sold for with currently the base price for triple A games being around $60 but it seems that CD Projekt want to make the game cheap as it has a lot of fans in Eastern Europe where $60 is a weeks wage, the pre-order and special editions will cost a lot more. However no information has been released as the game has not even been announced yet.
